Donate

The majority of Street Sense’s financial support comes from individual donors, so your support is greatly appreciated. As we are a small but growing organization, you can be assured that all of the money you donate will go directly to improving the newspaper itself and helping more homeless vendors get off the streets. Below are a few ways you can make your dollars go right to work. And be sure to check our Pledge to Donors.

** We now use a non-profit service to process our credit card transactions. LOC IND CH ORG is the name that will appear on your credit card statement – not Street Sense. Using a third party helps us keep our costs low and allows us to spend more time and money on our programs!

COMBINED FEDERAL CAMPAIGN (CFC)
Government employees can support Street Sense via the Combined Federal Campaign. Our CFC# is 28233.

MAKE A GIFT “IN HONOR OF” OR “IN MEMORY OF”
A gift “in honor” is a way to honor those you hold dear. Gifts may be made in honor of a birthday, anniversary, bah/bat mitzvah, etc. A gift “in memory” can be made in the name of a loved one who is no longer with us.

When you make a donation in honor or in memory of someone, a card recognizing the gift, along with a copy of the paper, will be sent to the person you select.

MATCHING GIFTS
Matching gift programs can double or even triple your tax-deductible contribution. Contact your employer’s Human Resources Department to find out if such a program is offered. If so, they can provide you with a form to send with your gift. Click here to see the companies that have matched their employees’ contribution to Street Sense.

WORKPLACE GIVING
Payroll deduction through your workplace makes giving easy. Support Street Sense through your employer’s United Way or Combined Federal Campaigns. Most workplace giving programs provide the option to select a specific charity for your donation so please designate Street Sense when filling out your pledge form.

IN-KIND GIVING
We are always in need of certain in-kind gifts.  Rather than giving cash or financial gifts, consider donating some office supplies or equipment which will help us keep the organization running.
Please take a moment to look at our wish list of things we could use at Street Sense.

Wish List

Office Equipment and Computers

If you just upgraded to a newer version of the latest, greatest technological wonder, Street Sense could probably put your older version to good use.  Really, we are not picky when it comes to this stuff.  As long as something works well, we can use it.  We’ll definitely take new stuff still in the box.  But, if your older version is still working, we can make it work for the organization.

Right now, we are looking specifically for the following:

        • One or two tablet computers

These will be used to make major upgrades to our paper sales capabilities as well as our ability to accurately track all of our inventories.

        • Laptop Computers

Our vendors, interns, volunteers and staff all use computers for writing, administration, editing, and a bunch of other reasons.  With limited space in our offices, laptops could increase our ability to offer more computers to more people.

        • New Desktop Computer

It’s getting to be time for us to update our local server.  We could use a new (or newer) PC to serve as our network host.

        • RAM for our existing computers

Man, some of those design programs we use to layout our paper hog RAM like nobody’s business!  To make what we have work more efficiently and consistently, we really should put a bunch more RAM into some of our existing machines.

        • Digital Camera

We like to be able to put nice artwork in the newspaper as well as produce decent pictures of our vendors for our ID badges.  My cell phone does a pretty good job at 8 megapixels, but a decent camera could really help us do more.

Office Supplies

As a fully functioning office, we are often in need of most of the office supplies used in most offices.  Some are probably more useful than others.  While we may be able to find a use for a nameplate engraver, we could probably more readily use the following:

        • Copy/printer paper (8 1/2″ x 11″)
        • Stamps
        • Reporter Notebooks
        • Staples gift cards
        • CVS gift cards

Vendor Needs

We are an organization dedicated to the success of those we serve.  Unfortunately, we do not necessarily have the space to handle large-scale donations of items such as coats and hats or food all the time, we do try to provide our vendors with items which will help them be successful with our organization.  Of course, if you do have clothing or food to donate, feel free to contact us and we’ll be happy to direct you to the right place to get these items into the hands of the right people.

We do like to provide our vendors with the following items:

        • Book bags and plastic bags
        • Gifts cards to give as incentives
        • Umbrellas
